Book Review of :  The Book of Eli

the-book-of-eli.jpg Have you ever wondered what or who the voice of God might sound like? Could his voice sound different for each person, or is his voice the same for everyone? This thought probably never crossed Eli Canaan's mind either before his first encounter with the Lord Almighty. The Book of Eli is an amusing, satirical story. It just goes to show you, that what you think about yourself, may be further from the truth than what other's think about you. Sam Moffie has created a character in Eli Canaan, one you will love and respect by the end of the book. The book can be explicit at times, but it works and get's the point across. Eli is a good man, upholds his morals, does chores, recycles, always returned what he borrowed, tried to please his wife, and prayed in his own way to God. He has a huge flaw though, just one, and it's probably the worst flaw a man could have, according to some. I found myself laughing out loud while reading this novel. I find the conversations and interactions between Eli and the "famous people" he interacts with in Heaven quite amusing! It really made me wonder about certain famous people and if they really would of had these conversations with others in their time periods. It's very funny. This book is a must read, it addresses thoughts and questions that you may have asked yourself with witty, charming answers, and makes you question if this could actually be how it is. I encourage you to read Mr. Moffie's book, it is witty and clever. The one liners are always coming out of no where and making you sit back and laugh out loud. The book is not about Denzel Washington's movie, "The Book of Eli," but personally, I found Mr.Moffie's book more entertaining than that movie.
