Book Review of :  A New Dawn

A New Dawn is a futuristic fantasy with political suspense and psychologically enhanced characters. Written by Reginald Andah, this fast-paced novel will challenge the imaginations of its readers and science fiction lovers. Imagine waking up on the metal floor of a huge earth-orbiting spacecraft.

The protagonist, Xander, had volunteered to train as a soldier and be placed into cryostasis, a state of being frozen until the eight spaceships were safely in space. Awake but unable to access memories, Xander is reminded by his friend, Leona, that the year is 2030 and that they have escaped a world war against a new species, an extraterrestrial life form. Reality will never again be the same.

The fast-moving plot follows Xander and his acquaintances as they struggle to harness the energy from ancient relics. Alchemy, magic, and demonic mythology meet a particle accelerator. The premise that the science of the ancients could enable humans to reclaim life on earth leads the characters to follow the commands of military leaders but also to question conspiracy theories.

Can humanity survive the energy of the huge silhouettes and possessed humans that have taken over the world? These formidable creatures, seemingly invincible, bring chaos and fear wherever they appear, shrouding the earth in darkness.

Can the characters, psyched up on adrenaline, anger, and grief, combat not only the monstrous threats but also the spiritual warfare that tests their very souls? Moreover, they must navigate the political madness that threatens to tear society apart from within. As alliances form and crumble, and desperation drives them to the brink, the question remains: Can they triumph against such overwhelming odds?

The reader will find subtle references to today's politics. This is a thought-provoking and entertaining read.

About Reginald Andah

Reginald Andah was born and raised in Houston, Texas. At a young age, he had a creative mind and an interest in learning. Both attributes allowed him to obtain a bachelor of arts degree, majoring in English from Texas State University. However, his accomplishment, along with others, could not have come to fruition without faith. Growing up in a low-income household with his mother eventually landed them on the streets. His uncle frequently assisted with his mom's financial difficulties. However, the constant struggle was taking its toll. Determined to take care of her only son at the time, his mother had to move from shelter to shelter as employment was difficult. Due to their unfavorable conditions, school and social life were a challenge for him. Though he excelled in academics, moving from district to district made him isolated and an easy target for being antagonized as the new student in his classes. His teenage years were more troublesome as his mother's mental health started to decline, and he now had a brother. Thankfully, his uncle continued to assist him whenever he needed, even though he could no longer support his mom. Though times were hard, his faith allowed him to persevere and make a life of his own. Independence was gained through adversity. He supported his family by procuring his own job while going to school. Though he always had a passion for creating, he never thought of potentially making it a career goal. It wasn't until he graduated from high school and took college courses dedicated to writing that he realized his drive for storytelling. Ever since he has been inspired to create stories with morals centered on his faith in God.
