Book Review of :  Balcony Dog TV

Balcony Dog TV by Gabrielle Washington is a humous children's book about what would dog commentators talk about in the life happenings of other dogs. The hosts of the Balcony Dog TV show are Bennighton the Third and his cute but big co-host Patricia. They broadcast from the balcony of a large apartment building that overlooks a pool and an attractive garden area. This particular broadcast is going to be about Lionel,  who is a 1-year-old puppy. It is time for him to go out and do a late-night bathroom call. The two hosts discuss what path and where Lionel might go on his bathroom excursion.   They discuss if Lionel will be able to wake Steven from sleep to lead him out to some of the favorite spots he likes to visit on his late-night adventures. Steven is an older human who is sometimes hard to wake up.  Will Lionel succeed in waking Steven and getting his late-night outing, or will he just end up using the rug for his business?

Gabrielle's depiction of the Balcony Dog TV show and what its hosts would talk about is a cute way to tell this story of the puppy who needs to go to the bathroom late at night. What do dogs discuss with each other? And how do puppies go about waking their sleeping human caregiver? Gabrielle gives you a vivid glimpse into her view of the things dogs think and talk to each other about. Mia Washington closely illustrates the narrative. The book is a mother-and-daughter endeavor. The illustrations closely follow and depict what Benny and Trish are discussing. Mia Washington's stunning illustrations bring life to the characters and flawlessly maintain their unique appearances throughout the tale.

Like sports commentators, Bennighton and Patricia report what they think might soon occur. They discuss the merits of the different paths that little Lionel might take, and finally, the real adventure starts when Lionel attempts to wake Steven. Will Lionel succeed, or will the rug become a temporary toilet?
