N. E. Carlisle writes mysteries grounded in community and enriched by a vivid sense of place. Her Bonne Année Mysteries began with Hazelnuts & Homicide and continue with Books, Bunnies, and a Body, which returns to the little Oregon town of Hazelton just in time for spring - a Peter Rabbit tea, a garden wedding, and a beloved egg hunt that takes an unexpectedly dark turn. Many of the coziest details are drawn straight from her own life. She once ran a small bookstore booth, and while earning her degree in gastronomy she hosted literary gatherings where the menu and the reading list were designed together. The recipes featured in her mysteries come from that very kitchen. And yes - Oscar the Bernedoodle is real, though he answers to a different name. |
