The King and I, is written and illustrated by Sorel Kaire. It is a charming children’s story about a father’s growing love for his infant daughter. There should be nothing sweeter than welcoming a new baby into the world, but in some cultures, the fondness for sons is greater than that for daughters. Sorel Kaire’s book addresses that issue. The King and I, is written, with simple illustrations, to be read to young children. Some of the dialogue and drawings depict the confusing emotions the King felt when he first was aware he had a daughter instead of the son he desired. The book quickly illustrates his change of heart as his eyes met his daughter’s, and he felt a kinship and love for the infant girl. Reviewed by: James B |
