Author Larry and Rosemary Mild's new novel, "Kent and Katcha, Espionage, Spycraft, and Romance," is everything a reader of thrillers could wish for. The plot unfolds in Russia, post-1992, after the fall of the Soviet Union, a period marked by political upheaval and uncertainty. This is an especially perilous time for any foreigner, but it is particularly dangerous for Kent Bruner, a newly trained American spy. As he navigates the treacherous landscape of post-Soviet Russia, Kent must rely on his wits and training to survive in a world where trust is a rare commodity and danger lurks around every corner. The narrative is rich with historical context and vividly portrays the complexities of a nation in transition, making it a captivating read from start to finish.

Authors Larry and Rosemary Mild have crafted a political suspense novel enriched by their deep understanding of Russian culture. The protagonist, Kent, enters Russia under a false identity. Despite his fluency in Russian, his first mission is perilous. Initially successful, he is eventually captured and imprisoned in an isolated camp without identification. His journey through misadventures and challenges ultimately leads to a daring escape, even as a warrant for his arrest looms over him.
Deep undercover, Kent meets the naive and unsuspecting Katcha. She and her mother quickly become entangled in a web of intrigue and espionage, drawn into a world they never imagined. Thus, the couple embarks on a perilous adventure for freedom, navigating through a maze of danger and deception. Major Dimitri Federov, a tenacious and ambitious Russian officer, suspects that his seemingly chance encounter with the couple will lead to the capture of the elusive escaped spy and secure his coveted promotion. As the stakes rise, each move becomes critical, and the line between friend and foe blurs.

Mystery and suspense follow the couple as they try to flee Russia for Finland. Will their capture result in brutal consequences? History, culture, and some Russian language make this suspense/ mystery fun for young adult readers. The authors are recognized for their numerous crime/detective, fantasy, and mystery series. They have coauthored another intriguing novel.
