Would You Teach a Fish to Climb a Tree by Anne Maxwell, Gary M. Douglas and Dain Heer is a book like no other on ADD, ADHD, OCD and Autism. This book approaches treatment, tools for working with these conditions, observation of behavior and approach to understanding and dealing with it. In our society so many times we have defined "normal" and "expected" behavior from our children. The children that these 3 fine practitioners deal with do not fit in the above mentioned behavior zone. The refreshing aspect of this book is that each of these children (and adults) are special and there are ways to reach them and the results of the techniques is astounding for all involved. So many ADD, ADHD, etc children think very fast and therefore are usually ahead of everyone else in actions and conversations. Therefore there goes the "normal" interaction and response. This book captures so many different techniques and ways for this issue and so many more to be dwelt with. Would You Teach a Fish to Climb a Tree is a must read - and read over and over - for those with children (and adults) with ADD, ADHD, etc.
