Dr. Lorna Myers Ph.D. has written an extensive helpful and enlightening book on PNES (Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures). Non-epileptic seizures are a very misdiagnosed, misunderstood disorder. Her book delves into the causes, symptoms and treatments for PNES. Seizures that begin to occur out of nowhere and are deemed not to be epileptic can be life changing and frightening. They immediately begin to alter the patient's life. Frustrated with no answers and no proven treatment can leave the patient suffering with the seizures bewildered. We learn in Dr. Myers' book what can further disable or encourage the seizures.
Dr. Myers gives a comprehensive look into causes of PNES and treatment. Various treatments were explained including the results that can be expected. The book is extremely helpful to those that are suffering misdiagnosis and incorrect treatments for PNES.
This book is "gold" for those patients suffering from PNES. Dr. Myers gives the patient such valuable information that can assist not only the patient, but the doctors treating the seizures.

Lorna Myers, Ph.D. completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the City University of New York in 1999 and went on to complete her post-doctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology. She is the Director of the Psychogenic Non-epileptic Seizure Program and of Clinical Neuropsychology Program at the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group in New York and New Jersey. She has published articles on PNES in peer reviewed journals and lectures to patients and healthcare providers nationally and internationally.
